Your superior may be in a
business travel in a regular basis and you may be required to accompany him in
one of his trips. It is easier to deal and manage situations while in the
office compared to when you are both in a travel. You may tend to feel
awkward and uncomfortable at some instances. Remember that at all times, you
should act in a professional manner. Below are some ways how you can make
your travel with your boss more at ease and comfortable. .
Know your roles. If
you are unsure with what will be your specific role during your trip, ask your
boss ahead of time. It could be that you will just act as his secretary
or assistant or it could be that you will be taking charge of some matters and
make arrangements as well. Make sure to determine your tasks so that you
should know what to expect and also how to fulfill his expectations.
Wear appropriate
clothes. You may not always be required to dress in a full business suit,
but see to it that you look professional and proper with your chosen
clothes. Avoid wearing shorts, sleeveless and other revealing
outfits. Do not wear clothes which are very noticeable or something that
may exceed your superior’s attire.
Stay away from personal
conversations. It is normal to have little talks regarding non
work-related topics, but you should know your limits and you should know when
to stop. Refrain from asking personal questions as well as revealing
personal matters about your life. Never start a talk about politics and
religions since you may have different point of view and opinion.
Never get drunk.
Remember that you are not there for pleasure. You have a role to play and
tasks to fulfill. Never ever get drunk or it may be the end of your
career. It is fine to accompany your superior if you are asked to do, but
limit your alcohol intake. Save yourself by knowing to avoid temptations.
